Bull sharks are amongst the fellow shark species that have gained the worst reputation in the public eye in the matter of fierceness and aggressivity.
They are in reality one of the shark species that fear humans the most and that would most cautiously swim when in our presence.
They are also amongst the shark species that I enjoy filming the most due to their bulky body and broad and intimidating snout that make them very photogenic on film.

They are also one of the most challenging sharks to film at a close range due to their natural wariness to come close to divers.
It gets some time for them during the dive to gain our trust and to grab the bait at a close range so that I am able to capture with my camera close up images of “open mouths” biting and grabbing the bait.
The bait that I give them is a kind of tuna called bonita which is very abundant in Florida waters and that is not very good for human consumption because of its irony taste and because it’s very bloody.
I really consider it a big achievement when I am able to capture on film a nice open mouth footage of a bull shark at a very close range, as you can see in the video in several instances.
